John McAfee Hits at Justin Sun for Overhyped Lunch

Eccentric millionaire John McAfee is in the news again. This time, the 2020 presidential candidate found himself mocking Justin Sun on Twitter, saying that he had a bad habit of hyping up events that ultimately never occur.

McAfee Points the Finger at Sun

McAfee is referring to the $4.5 million lunch Sun allegedly had planned with Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett. Over the summer, the lunch was marketed in a way one might advertise a bitcoin hard fork. The situation was being looked at by critics as one of the best possible things for cryptocurrency. Justin Sun, a protégé of Alibaba’s Jack Ma, was potentially going to sit down with Buffett over a meal and discuss the benefits of crypto.

Buffett, as many enthusiasts know, is no fan of bitcoin or its crypto cousins. He has repeatedly referred to bitcoin in a negative light, calling it a fraud and “artificial gold.” He has also commented that it has no value. Sun was alleged to be the one who could potentially bend Buffett’s mind in the right direction and make him see the light.

However, the lunch has yet to occur, with Sun initially getting sick and with no rescheduling plans in the works. That’s not to say that it won’t still happen… Just that for all the hype and hoopla surrounding it, the lunch hasn’t happened yet, and they’ve been very slow in getting to it.

Sun has commented in the past that he is guilty of overhyping certain situations. He apologized to his followers and has sworn to lay off such behavior in the future. Still, that hasn’t stopped McAfee from poking fun at the young tech entrepreneur. McAfee recently posted on Twitter:

I’ve been hit-and-miss in the crypto community for the past few months, but I’ve been doing the Lord’s work. On Monday, I will have an announcement about what we have been working on non-stop for over a year. I think you will like it.

McAfee than shared a false picture of Sun dressed in a “Tron: Legacy” costume with the words “announcing the announcement” on the chest area.

You’ve Been in the News a Lot Lately

McAfee, himself, is no stranger to controversy himself, having been a “person of interest” in 2012 in Belize when his neighbor turned up dead. He was then arrested in Guatemala for potentially entering the country illegally. This was followed by an additional arrest for driving under the influence and possessing a handgun after he returned to the U.S.

He has since declared himself a presidential candidate for 2020 and consistently insists that by the end of that year, one bitcoin unit will be worth more than $1 million. He has further declared that Cuba needs to consider developing its own form of crypto if it’s to override U.S. sanctions.
